My Favorite is George
by Todd Sweet
We just got tickets for the whole family to see Rain: A Tribute to The Beatles at Assembly Hall in September. Both kids have been obsessed with The Beatles since their preschool music teacher did a section on the band. They learned songs and heard stories about the history of the group. Apparently one of the songs they learned was "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," - traditional content for 2-4 year olds, right? We've also been listening to their music non-stop in the car, with some of the kids' favorites being "Yellow Submarine", "Hey Jude", and "Here Comes the Sun." This thrills me to no end because some of my fondest memories growing up were from times spent in our basement rec room listening to Beatles records on an antique stereo turntable. I hope they still love this music when they get to be my age.
